Wendron Church, Helston
This medieval Church was built in the 14th-15th century.
Our first project with Wendron Church was to carry out work to the inner valleys and roof slopes, where we replaced the timberwork and leadwork forming the new valley with new slating in 2009.
After much fund raising and grants we were invited back to carry out further works to the Church.
A covered roof scaffold was erected to prevent any water ingress whilst the work was carried out, the remainder of the roof to the outer slopes were stripped and timber repairs carried out with the porch roof being replaced in its entirety, new delabole slates to all roof slopes and leadwork under the gable copping stone to prevent damp getting into the tops of the wall, the coppings were in poor condition and some needed replacing which were made by a local stonemason.
New guttering and down pipes throughout and the replacement of the cement pointing to the tower and gables with lime mortar will let this Church dry out and function for many years.
